Apartment Review for Homestead Apartments - Fullerton, CA

I just moved out 3 weeks ago after living there for 2 years. Horrible place to live!

- They gave me back less than HALF of my security deposit, claiming I only paid 200 dollars for pent rent when I moved in (I paid 300 and have proof!). Plus, they charge you an arm and a leg for weird things- painting, painting supplies, painting labor, "other" supplies, "other" labor, etc. - My brother's car was broken into last year... Had his stereo and 50 bucks stolen. Management did nothing. - Last year, my brother and I parked under some trees (along with about 6 other cars), and I woke up to the sound of my car alarm going off. Turns out, they got the tow truck company out there to tow all the cars under the trees to a different spot so THEY could cut back the tree branches. They should have told us to move by way of prior notice instead of towing... - Rent is only considered late AFTER the 3rd of each month. I constantly got notices on the 2nd, threatening me about late fees if I don't pay up and how it would have to be a cashier's check. What gives? I always paid before the 4th... - In the last 2 years, I've had multiple times where I would have to go down the street to a local residential area to park my car, then walk all the way back to my apartment. Horrible parking! It was a two bedroom apartment, yet we were only guaranteed 1 designated spot. - They did a "check" of smoke detectors about 3 months ago, and when they came in, they saw 2 cats in my apartment. Since I moved in with only one and only paid the 300 pet deposit, they threatened me and told me they'd need another 300 or I'd have to get rid of the cat, even though she'd been there for a year!! - Two months ago, they redid the roofs. Without prior notice, they spend a week hammering above us (I was on the second level). I went down to complain about the noise level to our manager (who was new at the time), and said we should have been given some sort of notice. Then she found a paper that was supposed to be given out to the residents, stating the situation and what to expect. Turns out, the prior manager was fired and didn't care to let people know what was going on. What a way to run a company!! - During the same week of hammering, one of the roofers stepped on a beam on the roof and cracked our ceiling!! Twice!! My bedroom had a HUGE crack above my bed! And in our kitchen, there are three cracks, all in parallel lines... They never fixed it (I moved out two months later), but they gave us a complimentary carpet cleaning from the professional company that cleans all their carpets. - If I had stayed, the rent would have gone up $150... They charge way too much to begin with for such a crappy place.

Do Not, Under Any Circumstances, Live In This Apartment Complex... You will regret it later...
