Apartment Review for Sycamore Village 1 - Fullerton, CA

I could write a book on this place. I've seen this place go from a really nice family/adult complex to what it is today, just a cheap place to live. Owners and management have changed so many times that you need a score card just to keep track. The few good managers that have been here are long gone. The management is indifferent at best. When people say that unplanned water and gas shut offs occure, they aren't kidding. It used to be that we would get a flyer saying when a outage/shut off would happen. Now you must call and ask them when it would return to service. I've had many a cold shower! We are in the third year of a 'renovation project'. All three parking areas have been completed, but only two are open. All of the bushes and grass has been removed. Nothing has been replaced or replanted. The two areas that remain are not well maintained. Kids used to play all over the complex. Now for the most part they stay inside until the manager leaves so they can run and play. Bike riding by kids was prohibited until after 5pm. I guess that one lone positive would be the removal of the leaking grills that were removed. We were told that they would be repaired/replaced. Instead, they were disconnected and continually spray painted black to hide the rust from the prospective renters. Kids were told to stay away from them because they were the used as nests for wasps and blackwidows. Also, if you leaned on them they would fall because they were rusted through. The old community room, gym, pool table, sauna, and shower have all been removed. A new office was started but never completed in their place. When I moved into my unit it wasn't ready. But since a had to move in I did. The unit sat for weeks in the same condition that I first saw it. Doors were falling off of hinges. Other doors had so much paint on them that they wouldn't close. Cabinets were falling apart, so I got my tools and fixed them, ALL. They feined surprise at it's condition. Some of the current new renters here are very bad. Drugs, public drinking, loud parties, and trash dumped into the street or parking areas is a common problem. Graffitti is showing up more and more. You decide for your self. I'm out of here in two months. It'll cost more, but, it will be worth it. Good luck!
